| Abstrak | : | An overview of language support for parallel technical computing is provided. The rationale for multithreaded languages, in which the programmer explicitly specifies what work is to be carried out by multiple processors and how their activities should be coordinated, is described. The discussion begins with an introduction to the general models for manipulating multiple threads and how they are incorporated into programming languages. The wide variety of features for creating multiple threads, scheduling their execution, synchronizing their activities, and sharing data among them are then examined. Examples in a simplified, FORTRAN-like notation are included. It is shown how the language features are distributed among commercial compiler implementations. Some less traditional approaches to multithreaded language support are presented to provide a glimpse at what might be expected in future languages and compilers.<> |

| Abstrak | : | Compilation techniques for the source-to-source translation of programs in an extended FORTRAN 77 to equivalent parallel message-passing programs are discussed. A machine-independent language extension to FORTRAN 77, Data Parallel FORTRAN (DPF), is introduced. It allows the user to write programs for distributed-memory multiprocessing systems (DMMPS) using global addresses, and to specify the distribution of data across the processors of the machine. Message-Passing FORTRAN (MPF), a FORTRAN extension that allows the formulation of explicitly parallel programs that communicate via explicit message passing, is also introduced. Procedures and optimization techniques for both languages are discussed. Additional optimization methods and advanced parallelization techniques, including run-time analysis, are also addressed. An extensive overview of related work is given.<> |

| Abstrak | : | SORE ini aku berjalan sendiri menuju gereja. Suster yang biasanya menemaniku misa, ada urusan. Baru beberapa langkah kakiku keluar dari gerbang biara, sebuah mobil berwarna hitam langsung menghampiri. Seorang bapak langsung membuka kaca mobil bagian depan dan berkata, "lbu, mari masuk:' Sebagai orang baru yang belum mengenal masyarakat setempat, aku langsung menolak dengan halus. Balasku, "Teri ma kasih, Pak, saya jalan saja:' |

| Abstrak | : | The ParaScope parallel programming environment, developed to support scientific programming of shared-memory multiprocessors, is described. It includes a collection of tools that use global program analysis to help users develop and debug parallel programs. The focus is on ParaScope's compilation system. The compilation system extends the traditional single-procedure compiler by providing a mechanism for managing the compilation of complete programs. The ParaScope editor brings both compiler analysis and user expertise to bear on program parallelization. The debugging system detects and reports timing-dependent errors, called data races, in execution of parallel programs. A project aimed at extending ParaScope to support programming in FORTRAN D, a machine-independent parallel programming language for use with both distributed-memory and shared-memory parallel computers, is described.<> |

| Abstrak | : | An overview of automatic program parallelization techniques is presented. It covers dependence analysis techniques, followed by a discussion of program transformations, including straight-line code parallelization, do-loop transformations, and parallelization of recursive routines. Several experimental studies on the effectiveness of parallelizing compilers are surveyed.<> |

| Abstrak | : | Explains set theoretic estimation, which is governed by the notion of feasibility and produces solutions whose sole property is to be consistent with all information arising from the observed data and a priori knowledge. Each piece of information is associated with a set in the solution space, and the intersection of these sets, the feasibility set, represents the acceptable solutions. The practical use of the set theoretic framework stems from the existence of efficient techniques for finding these solutions. Many scattered problems in systems science and signal processing have been approached in set theoretic terms over the past three decades. The author synthesizes a single, general framework from these various approaches, examines its fundamental philosophy, goals, and analytical techniques, and relates it to conventional methods.<> |
