Coudreau spoke about the responsibility of Christians and dealt successively with the situation of the family in our world, the message to be offered (the family as a community of love, leaven of unity, source of love) and the actions to be undertaken at the cultural, familial and educational level. The conference of Mr H. Goubert, from the La Croix Newspaper, dealt with work in a changing world. The speaker examined the problem of unemployment as a structural phenomenon and questions arising about the aims of works, and finally raised the ethical question: what priceare we ready to pay to solve the crisis? Time has come to integrate ethics into the economy. |

Too often, conscience is purely and simply opposed to laws and norms, which remain external, while conscience is on the the contrary personal and internal. But is not conscience the very source of norms and principles? The laws are but an externalization of the moral quality intuitively reached by conscience, by a process of objectivity and socialization. Positive law is not laid down without reference to conscience. Yet we should not be blind to conflicts (e.g. the conflict spoken about in the case of erroneous conscience), but does the terminology not exaggerate the paradox? The author concludes by underlining the vastness of the realm of conscience (its being applied in given circumstances) and the importance of educating moral consciece. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Is it really possible to go beyond fear? The author keeps some doubts. such a feeling is so basic and primal! In many cases tranquillizers and painkillers can and should be used. drugs however are not enought to make fear disappear. Drugs can only work on symptoms, and moreover there are other ways to fight against fear. These means do not suppress the causes of fear but can at least lessen the stress and take away the all invading character of fear. The author discusses three other means. First of all the explicit manisfestation of a scientific and technical competence, capable of confronting sickness, pain, death. Second, the friendship, affection, presence of dear and lovesones, provided that they themselves have overcome and tamed their own fear of sickness and death. Incidentally, notes the authr, the memory of the love received places next to fear one of the most precious feeling we can experience , gratefulness. As a last help, the author recognizes the cry of prayer, in the Psalms and especially in the contemplation of Christ on the cross, he who won victory over the forces of evil and destruction. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | If there is a crisis today, it is a crisis of hope. The most urgent task today is to rebuild hope. The destruction of hope has taken several dimensions: destruction of any spirit of resistance, destruction of the political will of the people, refusal of critical theory and of utopia. The only alternative offered today is the free market economy. For the author, in order to be real and not illusory, the rebuilding of hope must start from the poor and the outcast, have a socio-economic basis, elaborate a concrete strategy of realisation. Popular base movements must rediscover the cultural, ethical and spiritual strength which has been their guiding thread. More than ever, the voice of the liberation theologias has to be heard for it speaks, from the viewpoint of the poor, about a God who is a God of life and of hope. |

Anxiety and anguish are present in our world; at the individual and collective level. It has always been so. The Bible, as History of Salvation, speaks about the fear of the Lord. The prayer of the Our Father meets our basic fears. Faced with anguish and anxiety, when fear is present, we should not hesitate to have recourse to prayer. |
