Nomor Halaman : 69-92
Abstraksi Narasi : The article is based on the hypothesis that there is a correlation between the evolution of pastoral practice and social change. This hypothesis is well exemplified in the history of the catechumenate as we seeit in pluralist societies. This manner of generating new believers is found whenever the Church finds herself in a society where Catholicism in confronted with other religious traditions and where the Church is not coextensive with society. The validity of the hypothesis is being tested in the particular case of Quebec. Obviously we notice here deep social changes wich have their roots in the 20s and which are accelerating since 1960. Though they inference with important mutations in the pastoral practice of the Quebec church, these social changes have not led the pastors to substantially change the procedures and rites of Christianinitiation. One still pretends that all Quebecois are normally catholics by birth and initiated into Christian life during their childhood. If this remains true in most cases, something is undergoing change. Christian initiation is being postponed more and more. The phenomenon is well brought out in the enquiry undertaken by the author. However the Church in Quebec is slow to react. If we leave out the Montreal are, the catechumenate is practically unnown in the Quebec society which is always considered as ``catholiic``. The church neglects to rethink fundamentally her relaionship with society but keeps on in a different social context Christian initiation practices which were conceived for a former stage of culture.

Nomor Halaman : 61-68
Abstraksi Narasi : After giving a short description of the situation in Poland, the author considers the new challenges of catechesis in this context when religious education in now given in schools. Many in Poland are in favour of programmes similar to those in Germany, e.g., and are ready to learn from the experiences in Western Europe. The school for them is indeed a good place to familiarize the youth with Christ and his message, with the Church and the sacraments. It is equally important to be able to proclaim the Gospel through the media, more specifically newspapers and important eleent for renewal. Catechesis must there fore be thought anew and due place be given to the study of Scripture and to the Paschal Mystery, the death and resurrection of Christ. Though there is an authority crisis, the call of christ can still be presented: , and Mary can lead young Poles to her Son. The task of the catechists for the time being does not consist in harvesting the fruits but it is today to assiduously plant the seeds of the Good News.

Une Demarche Theologique et sa Traduction Methodologique en Catechese

Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 427-440
Abstraksi Narasi : In this article the author shows how a given theological approach can inspire a catechetical methodology. This theological path is first of all aware of the importance of science and thechnology in contemporary culture and the consequent change of mentality and outlook. It is also conscious of the importance of linguistics, depth psychology, social sciences. Following C. Boff ( in his Ph.D. Thesis from Louvian, >), the author argues that theology must be aware of its own presuppositions and tools. A threefold mediation is suggested: social-analytical, hermenneutical, paractical. 1. The socio-analytical mediation is needed to answer the question: what does it mean to be a Christian in such an such a situation? 2. Without hermeneutical mediation one cannot be faithful to the mesage of Revelation. 3. Practical mediation reminds us that the aim of Revelation is realized in the acceptance of God`s gift of himself in the life of the believer. Such a theological approach can inspire a catechetical method shich can be schematized in three steps (very close to the > sequence): expression-confrontation-assumption. What characterizes the first step is the discovery of basic human experience, the life situation of the catechized. For the second step, explicit reference is made to the Christian message and we are therefore at another level: by itself human experience does not lead to revealed truth. With the third step, catechesis becomes an invitation to follow Jesus Christ in a personal way. It is a challenge to accept faith, to live in hope, to practice charity.

Nomor Halaman : 451-462
Abstraksi Narasi : After a particularly full life Cardinal Malula died unexpectedly in June 1989. This contribution by Father Leon de saint-Moulin shows how the Cardinal`s many gifts were put at the service of the diocese of Kinshasa, Zaire. By the promotion, in the widest sense, of diocesan clergy, the foundation of a religious Congregaion for native sisters and the support of the role of the laity in the diocese, the author underlines the Cardinal`s deep love of the Church abd of Africa. Throughout his life, the Cardinal wished to be a prophet; but also, by his concern for the full developement of the human person and by his confidence in and therefore the encouragement he gave to others, he also wished to build up the Church. , he said. The author concludes the article by referring to he Cardinal`s many activities which proved the wide scope of his competence. Cardinal Malula was truly a committed African, a man of the church, a man of God.

Quelle Place Pour Les Jeunes Dans les Assemblees Dominicales?

Nomor Halaman : 463-468
Abstraksi Narasi : Why are young people so cool about the Sunday Mass? What is the meaning of this attitude? It is perhaps because their faith can not be expressed in rigid, stereotyped celebrations; or because we ourselves have too narrow an idea of Christian practice. Yet, there are other elements. The author points to some of them. Youth likes to be true and to conform one`s actions to one`s ideas. There is a wide gap between the cultural world of the older generations and of the young. Yong people want to be with their peers, to be like them, to be themselves while conforming to be group. They are also attracted by modern values, especially by what is new, what is fashionable, what is ``in``. For them, attendance at the celebration of the Eucharist cannot just be a matter of principle. Yet, the desire to experience the sacred remains strong and the interest in the Good News does not fail. Here we are invited not to avoid questions or be blind to the problems but to examine the situation with openness and serenity.

Qualite Theologique et Qualite Catechetique d`Un Manuel de Religion

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Lumen: A Journal of Catholic Studies
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 441-449
Abstraksi Narasi : The Church needs specific resources and materials to present the Christian faith in an authentic and authorized manner. What are the qualities we look for in catechetical texts? The official documants give excellent guidelines and principles. The author draws on his personal experience tio give a few thoughts and reflections. A manual for religious doctrine or catechism is a work considered by the ecclesial community as representive of the Magisterium in view of the initiation and training of the faithful in Christian faith and life. Its first quality is a sound theology. A few examples in the past-taken from Latin American catechisms of the XVIth century-show that it has not always been so. Catechetical texts should also have a strong Biblical o0rientation, giving more than information and knowledge of history and literature. Finally, the witness of the saints should not be forgotten. Theological norms, however, are not enough and these need to be supplemented by a series of specifically catechetical ccriteria: personal and social changes, pastoral considerations, ecumenism and dialogue, interaction between faith and life, communion and participation, doctrinal synthesis, adaption to growth process, inculturation and sensitivity to popular religiosity. These few principles are important for any writer to keep in mind but also those who are to discuss and appr0ve catechetical texts.

Le Verbe Grec Katechein Dans le N.T.

Abstraksi Narasi : Etymologically, the verb ``katechein`` means . The term is rare in classical Greek and is not found in the Septuagint. One does not find it either in the vocabulary of religious Judaism. We have here a specific way of teaching, based on the gospel. After paul, the verb was used nearly exclusively for Christian teaching, and more precisely for Christian initiation. It is at the origin of a whole set of related terms: catechesis, catechumen, catechism. ``Katechein`` means first , yet the verb is not used for any noise, but for the sound of a human voice which suscitates an echo among the hearers, a word resounding to the ears of an auditor who takes part in a dialogue. If the initialo meaning of is always present, the meaning is foremost in Paul`s writings and will gradually take predence. The verb is found eight time in the N.T. Paul uses it in a specific sense: to instruct in the faith, to teach the content of faith, be it through propercy in a Christian assembly (1 Co 14:19) or through systematic teaching and its practical consequences (Ga 6:6, twice). The concern for instruction in the Law (Rm 2:18) was surely present in the writings of Luke witness to an introductory catechesis to be deepened (Ac 18:25 with the example of Apollo, or Lk 1: 4 for Theophilus) as well as public rumours about Paul (Ac 21: 21.24). In all these texts, catechesis always includes-as an essential element-something kept from its etymology: the Good News is to be taught and shared in a viva voce communication where the echo element has an important place. We enter the universe of a living tradition where the Word said, heard, transmitted, is predominant.
