| Abstraksi Narasi | : | In an issue devoted to the relationship between theology and catechesis was it not important to give room to a dialogue between a few catechists and a few theologians? Why not sit round a table and start talking to one another? This is precisely the subject of the article: a transcript of a discussion between eight persons involved at different levels in theological and catechetical reflection and practice. The dialogue is centered around three main questions: * What is the difference between catechesis and theology? * What do people engaged in one area expect from the others (the catechists from theology and the theologians from catechesis) * How would they enrich one another through dialogue? Are they influnced by the work and reflection of the others: as a catechist, am I influenced by theological trends and research? do theologians take into account the questions raised by the catechists? |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The author proposes to distinguish three specific tasks for catechetics, the science of catechesis: to be at the service of the ecclesial institutions and community (whereas as distinct from would be less dependent on the same authority); to undertake a scientific approach which is aware of new contexts and is ready to face new challenges; to enter into a continuous re-woking of the symbolism of the Judeo-Christian tradition making it necessary for the believer to re-appraise his/her faith. The aim of the training of catechists is to develop aptitude and competence to hand over the Gospel message. But this cannot be done without taking into account the social and ecclesial context. considering training as an key element, the author suggests reworking some premises: the triangular pedagogical model, communication patterns, the use of auxiliary disciplines. Training must also make catechists attenive to four aspects: 1. discerning the impact of the scio-cultural environment on the Church and more particularly on faith formation; 2. listening to what is being said in the Christian community; 3. Identifying the necessary competence among christians so that they can realize their vocation in modern society as wel as trying to search with the faithful how to respond to the dynamism of the Spirit; 4. an evaluation of these three aspects. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | theology and catechesis are both at the service of the Word, but the immediate aim of these two disciplines is different: the understanding of faith for one, the personal dimension of faith for the other. Formally distinct, theology and catechesis are neverthelessmutually linked: theology can become one step in a catechetical process; theology provides a set of norms fr the content of catechesis; and finally theology offers resource material to be studied and used by catechists. Needless to say catechists need to be well trained theologians. Catechetics is the science of catechesis, i.e. a systematic study of and a methodical relection on catechetical practice itself. Catechetics could develp along three main lines. First, to develop a theology of the catechetical process itself, i.e. a theological study of all that is implied in the communication of faith; second, a socio-historical study of the different catechetical practices in the Church, and third, a branch of what has sometimes been called : how the Church is truly the Church in a given situation. Within the theological field catechetics will focus on the ways and means of communicating the Christian message and pay attention to the much needed re-expression of Tradition. It will also give the necessary tools for a coherent catechesis and foster among catechists awareness, understanding and competence for a better service of the Word in the present cultural context. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | How do catechists and theologians express the relationship between their respective disciplines? The author, a priest from the diocese of Lyons, teaches in a faculty of theology and is at the same time involved in the adult catechumenate. He is well qualified to offer some reflections on the relationship between catechesis and theology. While looking at what is being done in practice, he notes on the one hand that there is a theologians do not work in an entrenched sanctuary: they are people who act as much as they reflect and they are concerned about communication. More and more it becomes urgent and necessary to envisage a meeting ground where catechists and theologians can work together. Theology is not the monopoly of a few specialists. Of course, not all christians are theologians but they all do theology. In other words, theologians and catechists do theological work but they do it with a different social and ecclesial function. The catechist does theology in a double way: he makes use of the results of theological work. Catechesis should not be dominated by theology, and the catechism should not be reduced to a summary of a theological text book. It follows from these observations that catechists must be competent and capable theologians (there is a type of theological reflection that they alone can produce) and that theologians have to take into account the catechetical reflection in its specifically theological dimension. Finally one cannot discuss these points without bringing in a third element: the Magisterium. We urgently need an accurate understandingg of the theology of the Magisterium, an understanding which not only considers theology and catechesis as dependant but guarantees their rightful autonomy. |

Four sets of activities are proposed: Self-development, In one`s words, The importance of time, On being man and woman. 1. the first game makes use of masks to liberate sellf discovery or dreams of a new world. 2. Adolescents have also to learn to express themselves verbally (role play with coloured hats is offered) and totell the story of their life in images and words (through clips, photo language, ads, etc). 3. Another game is based on the ambivalence of life: Scrabble based on the verb to chose, or twenty five sentences around the word life set a games, , offers the opportunity to analyse love at first sight, jealously and rivalry, tenderness and concern. All these games are based on four convictions: games offer a space for self buiding and the discovery of one`s identity; an autoritative teaching is not something ready made, stereotyped, but should take into account the other`s differences; in nay educational should not be ignored in adolescent catechesis: they also need to play to give vent to their imagination and to build their personality. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | During the summer of 1988, forty boys and girls, aged 14 to 15 years, went by bike to Turin. A special way to celebrate the centenary of Don Bosco`s death and to follow in a very real manner a spiritual itinerary. The article describes the joys and difficulties of this unusual pilgrimage, how the young opened themselves to the others and to God, discovered new dimensions of life, friendship and prayer. Of course the experience would not have been what it was if it had not been taen in charge and carefully planned by an accompanying team of adults. The aim was indeed to make young people receive the Good News, to know better stages, with days of rest and sharing. Mo0reover each day was centred on a particular theme and organised along three moments: sowing (morning), sharing (noon), harvesting(evening). The arrival in Turin was euphoric, like reaching the Promised Land. For many the Don Bosco route has become a watershed in their life. Nothing would be the same anymore. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The Jewish liturgy has always kown cantillation, i.e. the recitation of Biblical texts on a musical pattern. The authors describes a similar exerience with the Gospel of Mark, chapter after chapter. Committing the wod of God to memory and transmitting it orally is accessible to all, adults and children, rich and poor, healthy and sick, but also especially enriching. Through repetition, the participants discover tha they become truly evangelized, i.e. they let the Word transform their whole life. Christians tend to speak a lot about the Word, but without knowing it. Thanks to the insights of Fr. Marcel Jousse, thay have discovered the importance or memorisation and of oral transmission. This should be done aafter silence is eestablished and in such a way that the word touches the nounth, the heart, the hands (cf Dt 30,14). The aim of oral transmission is to link the World of God and daily life in a more vital way. Many catechist and parents have discovered the richness of this approach at home, i school, during the liturgy, or even daily work. Memorizing the Gospel is not just an activity of the maind. It helps Christians to internalize the Word and in such a way that their whole life is transformed. Once it is memorized, the Word springs up from the heart and it nourishes the testimony and the prayer of the faithful. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | New parlour games from Germany are making their appearance on the market. They are as entertaining as the other games but different, based as they are on cooperation rather than on competition: the players lose or win all together. Such games are important, says the author, for the children soon understand that similiar values are at stake in the world. Through these games the children discover that for a real victory everyone in the team has to win and if they loose, it is also all together, which is easier to bear. Obviously, these if they loose, it is also all together, which is easier to bear. Obviously, these games are like seeds sown in the wind if the underlying values of sharing, trust, confidence, --- are not present in the other moments of the life of the children. |
