Nomor Halaman : 295-304
Abstraksi Narasi : This year marks the centenary of the death of St John Bosco, the Italian priest and educator, founder of the Salesian family of religious. Why does Don Bosco still appeal so much to young people today? Because he was something of a rebel, someone who dared to have dreams and visions. He loved the young and made them discover that they are loved by God. Moreover Don Bosco proposes a wonderful experience, a certain way to reach holiness. This path has a recognizable content: holiness within the reach of every Christian, holiness in daily life. His proposal is done according to a certain style, with a particular spirit made of joy, spontaneity, familiarity where both loving kindness (amorevolezza) and reason (ragioneveolezza) play their part. In his pedagogy, Don Bosco underlines the essential role of religion. For him, holiness can not be separated from sacramental life, the daily encounter with God.

Abstraksi Narasi : For any undertaking, people need models. The rule holds true for holiness and evangelization. Without undue nationalism, it is good to search for models at home. Christianity is universal but each Christian belongs to a particular country, to a definite culture, and needs to meet saints from >. The article sketches the potrait of four Belgian saints: Saint Hubert (665-727), the great bishop of Liege, legendary patron saint of hunters, a pastor concerned sith the building of his Church; Saint Mary of Oignies (1181-1213), great mystic and visionary, reputed for her counsels and guidance, a woman of prayer to whom God communaced himself and whom many came to visit to come closer to God; Blessed Richard of Saint Anna (1585-1622), a Franciscan friar, missionary to Japan and martyr in Nagasaki, whose desire was to make God known far away to the point of dying for Him Blessed Mutien-Marie (1841-1917), the humble Christian brother who left the testmony of a life completely dedicated to God in prayer and humble service. Saints from our place should be better known. Situated in their historical context, they become attractive and can serve as real models of holiness.

Abstraksi Narasi : Father Damien, the apostle to the lepers on Molokai (Sanwich Islands) died in 1889. What he did and was is of interest to Christians and non-Christians alike. But if the Christian community remembers her witnesses, it is in view of the present. Fr damien, missionary to the lepers, is the apostle of the outcast. He is witness to Christ`s concern for all who suffer. He reminds us that the mission is the work of the whole church and that it is her vocation to be a healing community. Molokai is an island in the Pacific Ocean but our modern towns have created archipelagoes of suffering and despair: psychiatric was returned to Belgium, it is not to be venerated in a cemetry but as living witness, to invite us to go beyond centenary manisfestations.

Nomor Halaman : 314-324
Abstraksi Narasi : Without witness, there is no evangelization The article suggests how to speak of faith witnesses in religious education. The witness is not a but someone , who is conscious of a situation and who proclaims the Gospel accordingly. This witness is not separated from his people, his family, his environment, but he is inserted in Church and in a culture. While presenting the witness, the catechist shall remember that he cannot teach anything at any try to generate interest for the witness and for his cause. A few steps are suggested, taking as an concrete example the important figure of Cardinal Cardijn (1882-1967), the founder of the YCW: * of whom and of what is he a witness? * how did he react to his situation? * what did he ``fight`` for? * what were the results and consequences of this action? * what could be the follow-up today?

Abstraksi Narasi : Sometimes considered the first , a prophet of human rights, the spanish Dominican friar, Bartolome de Las Casas (1484-1566) is a very modern figure. The article describes the main points of his life before developing three traits of this message: his or awakening to the injustices of the colonial system, his denunciations of the crimes committed by this countrymen, his defence of the rights of the Indians. Very much a man of his time, Fray Bartolome is very (modern) for three reasons. First, unlike his missionary companions he tried to work through the political and juridical strucutres to help people. Secondaly, he worked constantly at two levels, reflexion and action. Finnally, for him, freedom was an essential value and therefore faith cannot be forced upon anyone; evangelization cannot remain the transmission of a deposit. B. de Las Casas invites us to change our mentality of owners of the Gospel and rely on God`s gracious offer to mankind.

Abstraksi Narasi : The author knows well the field of special religious education. He underlines the benefit that catechesis could from a better knowledge of what is being tried and realized in that field. Here questions are often more radical, and you are led to what is essential. You also discover the importance of personal relationship, the need to adjust to an ever-changing situation, the attention given to psycho-social data. Hurts and wounds reveal the needs of problem children, but more generally of all children. The importance of a genuine faith community is also felt, but is it not true for all Christians? More than ever we need to build bridges between people egaged in the various fields of catechesis.

Abstraksi Narasi : Even if poverty and social exclusion alienate people, they do not prevent them from feeling and reflecting. Yet, the defenceless and the poor are not listened to. Could they not enlighten and enrich a discussion about the type of society we want to build? This attempt has been made by the people of (founded by Fr. Joseph Wresinski, 1917-88). University professors and social scientists were asked three questions: to express what the poor and the defenceless live and think; how would a knowledge of this situation change their way of looking at reality; to share the results so that a real dialogue can be inauugurated. Nomor Halaman : 195-204
Abstraksi Narasi : : surely something unusual in 1988. We hear so much talk about the crisis of youth movements. Moreover the idea of mission appears to many so outdated. What is the YMS about? They invite young people to experience a faith community. To avoid the risk of reaining a warm, cosy little group, emphasis is placed on the World. While they listen to the Gospel and hear about what is being done abroad, they are also at the service of the local church. The YMS wants to fom adults Christians, wthout fear and without compromise. Within its limitations ( a certain pluralism of options, lack of structures, homogeneity of social origins) under the inspiration of its founder, Rev. Charles Wibonmont, the YMS wants to prepare youth to become Christians in tomorrow`s world, deeply rooted in their own youth to become Christians in tomorrow`s world, deeply rooted in their own faith and open to the missionary dimension of the Church.
