| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Opportunities for Bible trining are numerous. Yet, too many Christians have a poor knowledge of the riches of the Word of God. The "House of the Bible" in Wafre, near Brussels, has been opened with a view to help share more widely the results of Bible research. A small bulletin for Biblical training has been launched. The "House of the Bible" is also developing a Biblical internet site. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | If the Bible is "the Great Code" of Western literature (N.Frye), what is the relationship with its literary progeny? The article discusses two aspects of this genealogy. One the one hand, the Bible is a matrix of wstern literature which has tried, among other aspects, to fill in the gaps of the Scripture narrative. On the other hand, the Bible has played a paternal role for this generation. Literature has to measure up to the Book of books in the same way as one is confronted with paternal directives. The recent literary outcomes of the Scriptures are giving the Bible an unexpected echo, which believers should listen to. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Does reading the Bible in Greek, Latin or English, whether in the antiquated King James Version or in an up-to-date and simplifield plain American version really make sense at all? Should we contemplate the absurd possibility of psychoanalysis being carried out in some foreign language by a patient thus compelled to translate a Semitic language into an Indo-European one, a process in which all crucial meanings would necessarily be lost? Written English, for instance, is unable to skip vowels as do Hebrew or Arabic, a procedure that leads to great uncertainties when it comes to determining the exact meaning of "the Word of YHWH". The article examines the ways and means of a radically renewed approach to the Bible, namely through Hebrew as it was written in the days of Jesus. The results arrived at could well usher in a ground-breaking revolution! |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | In most parishes, little attention is paid to helping people to pray. Yet, there is a real need to renew the personal prayer of the faithful. The article describes a "school of prayer" which started as a Diocesan project. A parish community should prolong what is offered in religious communities, be attentive to what is going on in local communities or pastoral units, and also offer some concrete prayer proposals. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | From the primitive Chruch onwards, theological reflection has dealt with the question of magic. All through the history of theology and of spirituality, there has been reflection on the differnce between magic, prayer, and the sacraments. The issue is raised again in our days. Theologians, catechesis and pastoral workers have to consider the phenomeneon of magic, and deal with prayer in relation to magic, in order to recognise the true meaning of prayer. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | More than any other sickness, depression is a trial, and a particularly serious one. Depression affects one`s morale, reduces strength, takes away the desire to do anithing, even the desire to live. How to pray in such circumstances? The cry of despair or of revolt should become gradually a cry for help, an act of faith. Such faith, however groping and weak, can with God`s grace open a path of hope. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | As soon as they are liberated from fear and a-priori conceptions, young people often show a positive approach to prayer when they experience the benefits of recollection, silence and interiorty. Such an experience is not yet prayer as such, but constitutes, nevertheles, an indispensable element. Young people do not like ready-made prayers, or formulas and rituals, a phenomenon well understood in the show business and in the world of sport. The real chalenge for a prayer rooted in youth culture lies less in changing the words and rituals inherited from tradition than in renewing the formats, that is being in touch withlife and especially in learning to let God reveal himself as He is, so different from our idols and ways of thinking. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The authors shares a discovery which has changed his teaching and dedactic approach completely. Having to answer the questions of children in need of true hope, he had resource-following his own personal experience-to the words of the Psalms. No without surprise he realised that children discover themselves in the words of the laments and find a surprisingly direct access to the Bible as well as a language for their unexpressed anguish. Thanks to the words of trust in the Psalms children have access to a new perception of the reality of God. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The hospital is a complex world where three types of cultures intermingle: entrepreneurial, technical, and secularised. Such is the soil where prayer has to grow, where a good knowledge of the medical environment and of the experience of the sick person is paramount. In such a context, prayer shall reaffirm basic values: relationship, gratuitousness, time, being Someone. To accompany prayer means to respect the forms and contents taken by prayer, whatever surprises may come. It is also to help the sick person to discover the richness of the Church, to grow in prayer even during the time of sickness itself. It is finally to be a witness, for the benefit of the Church, of what the Spirit tells us through the sick person. |
