| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The many movements of the interacting body (gestures, mimicries, postures, movements, ...) are never neutral, nor indifferent. They express a moral stand before the world, and give to the words a carnal dimension which adds to their meaning. Of course, this process involves also speech, voice, the rhythim of elocution, the manner of looking, etc. No part of a speaking o silent person can avoid affirming his/her human affectivity. The evidence of the other`s presence in interaction is not only the reality of speech but first of all of the body, of the attitudes, and the postures. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The Christian awakening of the very young is primarily the responsibility of parents. However, in the light of a revised parish catechesis and within an inter-generational process, commmunity leaders are invited to be more present. This article offers some methodological advice on: reading the bible, narrating the sacred history, celebrating with the very young... |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The article offers a history of the key events which shaped the Canadian catechetical renewal, a Quebec-based movement which began in the 1940s and flowered with the publication of the new catechetical series in the 1960s. These catechetical resources were catechetical series in the 1960s. These catechetical resources were used in primary-elementary and high school in Quebec, in English Canada and in several other countries. The author makes use of primary source materials and first-hand interviews conducted with several of the key players at the heart of the renewal. He presents his findings under the following headings: the founding of diocesan catechetical offices, the publication of the 1948 ``Programme of Studies`` and of the Catechisme Catholique of 1951, the introduction of new pedagogical techniques, the opening of centres for the training of catechists, the transformation of Quebec Society as the background for the renewal, the publication of new catechetical resources and the negative reactions to them. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Catechesis in Latin america is basically organized on a national basis and also at the diocesan level. The Celam gives the impetus for actualization of the main orientations, mainly through the ``Decat``, i.e. the Departemento de Catequesis, which tries to implement the conclusions of the Latin American Bishops` Conferences. Yet these efforts do not always reach the base level. The best results are obtained in school catechesis when it is done with an evangelization thrust, in family catechesis with the eucharistic initiation of children, Bible workshops and catechesis in the CEBs (Comunidades eclesiales de base). Catechetical journals like Revista de Catequesse in Brazil and Catecheticum in chile are good resources for research and renewal). |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | It is in the context of school-schedules reorganization that the ``Saturdays for God`` were born. The time given to catechesis being reduced and marginalized, the catechists had to find a solution to carry on wth activities. Thhese Saturdays do not take the place of the Wednesday catechesis. They bring something more: more concerning time (two hours and half allow more variety in the activities: games, reflection, workshops, prayer, celebration); more because the catechists have to become jacks-of-all-trades; more in the line of relaitonships (simplicity, conviviality, availability). In one word, another way to live as a Church. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | In most Christian communities in Africa, from the time of the first missionaries till today, catechesis is done by the question and answer method. However this method appears today inadequate and answer method. However this method appears today inadequate and one has to show more creativity and imagination. The author proposes to use the insights of the narrative approaches of the Bible. They are better suited to the Bible message as story and correspond to the better african oral tradition. The author presents some elements of catechemical practice in Kabinda (Congo). He then shows how to speak about God by using elements from the African oral traditions (tales, proverbs, myths, etc). He finally concludes with three examples of an inculturated narrative catechesis (Christ the King; an account of humankind`s arrival on earth; the origin of death and evil). |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Catechesis has often been understood as a time when children prepare for first communication and confirmation. But catechesis is a process that involves the whole Christian community, children and adults, and for more than just preparation to the sacraments. The author analyses seven element where a transition can be proposed with concrete steps to work out: catechesis is for all; catechesis is intergenerational; catechesis is an ongoing process; catechesis is mystagogical; catechesis is integrative; catechesis is entrusted to the community; catechesis is flexible and open to options. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Wo Often hear that catechesis is undergoing a crisis and the reasons to worry seems to be increasing. What remedy can be proposed? Basing itself on recent catechetical reflection and reseach, the article explores some conditions for a renewal. The author advocates an inter-generational catechesis of initiation and a progressive admission in the totality of Christian life, a catechesis which is open to the missionary and catechumenal dimension, a catechesis in which the whole Christian community is involved, a catechesis enriched by recent research in the psycho-pedagogical field. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | After a promising start, with the renewal that followed the last Council, we can today acknowledge a crisis in parish catechesis. In the article, the crisis is linked with a certain conception of the parish. Rather than considering the parish as an institutional place where individual catechesis is being practised, the author suggests to give the parish a new outlook so that the whole parish becomes catechetical and becomes as it were ``living catechesis``. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Since the end of the Council and the year 2000, many discussions have taken place in the field of catechesis. Texts from the Magisterium, the Synod of Bishops, a "Universal Catechism" belong to this period of 35 years. However, the transmission of faith continues to be the subject of many discussions and preoccupations, from "grass root level" catechesist till the Bishops. The article presents ten areas which catechesis in the year 2000 will have to take into account: break down in communication; sacraments of initiation; to speak/ to witness; catethetical language; age of the catechized; the place of the "poor"; the requirement of freedom; the search for meaning; catechesis vs religius education; the value of pedagogy. |
