The plenitude of the Spirit manifests itself at the Baptism of Jesus, at certain moments of his public life and in the radiance of his Resurrection. Instead of speaking about the Spirit, Jesus proposes that his disciples, following him, should live a new experience, which has its source in the Spirit. Applying his reading of the Gospel to confirmation, the author shows that the period of iniation and apprenticesship, begun at baptism, should culminate with a waiting for and experience of the Spirit. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The multiple modes of confirmation provoke a certain confusion among the catholic faithful. The origin of these modes can be traced by historical overview of pastoral needs: an expressive baptismal liturgy, the relation between bishops and their flock, the reconciliation of heretics, the care of the dying and the christian maturity of adolescents. These different modes can be classified into groups which explain better the meaning of the sacrement (initiation, maturity and reception), but this exercise does not resolve the contradictions. The future success of the sacrement will depend on bold changes in the timing of its celebration, and in the progress of ecumenism. |
