| Abstraksi Narasi | : | A formidable challenge is today presented to all Christians. The downfall of ideological systems has revealed the spiritual void of our societies and the expectations of our contemporaries. On the other hand, the perplexity about spiritual expeiences is also tangible, whether in society or in the Church. We are today confronted with historical exigence to renew radical forms of prophecy. Are we capable of such a convension? A few considerations are here offered, on the historical basis that all renewal of Christian prophecy in time of crisis finds its origins in an attempt to return to the Gospel and to the sources of spiritual tradition. How to renew in keeping with the Gospel and evangelical tradition? such has to be the first question. In the second part, the author considers four main currents of christian spirituality: the original intuition of monasticism, the franciscan experience, the camelite tradition, the ignatian way. The third part envisages new forms of prophecy: the return to Jesus is essentiel, somewhere a break-away is also important, and we finally need more imagination. To conclude, the author shares some wishes and hopes, worries and pains, pleading for a renewal of symbolism and poetry in history. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | a growig number of Westerners are freely borrowing from Asian traditions some of their spiritual riches. Whether they continue or not to call themselves Christians, there results a certain shifting of guidelines and of values. Four of these shiftings are considered here with reater attention. 1. One seeks less salvation bythe Other rather than interior personal development. 2 the experience here and now is considered more important than the prospect ofeternal life. 3. Each person verifies his itinerary by his own personal experience. 4. the body is the area aof one`s spiritual journey. It seems that there is a lack of places and communities for Christians to meet their spiritual requirements. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | For the author spiritual companionship has to help clarify one`s motivations, to interpret one`s life in terms of call and answer, to clarify and to discern. A few main ideas inspire spiritual companionship: educate the youth to silence and to listening; initiate to the reading of the Word, train for personal prayer life, a prayer which entails trust in God. Prayer life is basic for spiritual companionship as well as for discovering God`s desires for us. It is important to offer youth spiritual guidelines surging from personal experience and thus be companions who knew the way (cf Tb 5:4). |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The present article traces the profile of the catechist. Nine gudelines all precise and clear are proposed. In the catechetical process, the catechist is called upon to exercise at the same time, a spirit of yielding and assuming of responsibility. Without excluding anyone, he seeks to facilitate his acceptance by the other, and tries to personalise relationships. Himself, a seeker of God, and guarantee of liberty and friendship, the catechist should assume his task with rigour and with a spirit of concentration. The spirituality of the catechist is finally that of enabling the Spirit of God, freedom to act. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Brussels or the burning bush? For the Author, the answer is clear. The city with its human and social density is a place of encounter with god as much as a place to meet the oher (Muslims, aids patients, unemployed...). Postmodern society does not foster conflict as much as it generates exclusion. In such a context, reconciliation is more important than ever. Rather than weaken the search for justice, the need for reconciliation renders it still more indispensable and lessens the spiral of violence. such is the work to which Christ ``Our Peace`` (Eph 2:14) calls us. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | To be familiar with God implies that one takes one`s place consciously and effectively in the salvific commitment of God towards humankind and the world. The concept of a spirituality anchored in life is worked aout against the background of critical considerations about ``listening to a voice, paying attention to it and answering it in a concrete way``, all this with special reference to the life context of the children, youth and their educators. Such a consideration leads to a radical reappraisal of lay spirituality in a postmodern world. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The article presents the work recently published by Lumen Vitae and written by the two authors, both Protestant theologians from Montpellier, A Disseminated Church (1995). The title of the book is itself the question. The church indeed is an assembly, a body of people called together, while dissemination avokes on the contrary dispersion, if not dislocation. Yet such is the situation. The method used is one of constan interpretation in three steps: taking stock of the change, examining the theological issues and sketching a few figures for a disseminated Church. Taking into account this fragmentation, the authors ponder the chances for the Christian communities, lest they lose their identity. Traditional functions ascribed to the Chrurch are then envisaged and reconsidered (cult, preaching, ethics, overseeing). To conclude, the authors deal with the question of visibility: is a disseminated Church still visible? Itinerancy-developed here as a theological concept-prevents the Church from erring through a deep rooting in the faith, while rooting oneself in faith does not lead to the dangers of fundamentalism thanks to itinerancy. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | One of the most original features of Christian faith is to generate displacements. Believers have to move, at times physically but more often on the psychological and spiritual level, in order to change their behaviour and to speak differently. The Gospels invite us to be constantly on the move. What is the meaning of these changes for sedentary Christians? |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Fifty years ago, on March 25 1946, the first issue of the Lumen Vitae review appeared. Its title, ``The Light of Life``, was borrowed from a sentence of Jesus (Jn 8:12). The review was coming out after a war that had plunged the world into darkness and chaos. Yet, in this period of trial, forces of renewal were aleady at work, preparing the return of peace. Since its foundation, the review wanted to be international and to remain attentive to the situation in the various continents: Latin America, Africa, Asia, the Western world. In this overview of 50 years of the history of te Review, the author- a former editor of Lumen Vitae between 1968 and 1982-underlines the different trends and features characteristic of the Review: interdisciplinary approach, place given to the socio-political context, contributions from the social and psychological sciences, the mass media era, and theological reflection. Gratitude has to be expressed to all who contributed to making the review what it is. No name is mentioned but they are present in the memory of the readers. The cover of the first issues bore an effigy with the inscription: I am the light of the world. Truly, our hope concerning the future only on Christ. |
