| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The novel O Pioneers! which was written by Willa Cather was first published in 1913. This novel is special because it marks the alteration of Cather`s previous male identification toward a view which is closer to Virginia Woolf`s who was well known as a feminist. In O Pionner! Cather rejects the ideology of masculinity that dominated her thinking in the 1890s. She places a woman protagonist --acreator and conqueror-- who times the wild land not by exerting brute force but by giving herself up to its power and beauty with love and yearning. This article tries to discuss the idea of feminism conveyed by Willa Cather in her particular novel mentioned above. It will see the novel from the viewpoint of feminism, by focusing on the characterization of the heroine of the novel. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | John Keats is well-known as a romantic poet. Most of his poems are dedicated to these who love and admire the beauty of nature. Even in his dying years, he still produced a lot of truly beautifully-phrased poems. one of his many poems is Ode On A Gracian Urn, a poem which reflects his state of mind and his feelings towards life and eternity. He longed for eternal life, he wanted to be forever young to consume all wonderful things on this earth which he compared with Arcady the amazing place of Greek mythology where the gods live eternally. However, Keats`s state of mind went through a development. He then realized that living eternally also means suffering eternally, something that the tried painfully to avoid. This brief discussion which progresses stanza by stanza, tries to explore the Ode to find the significant development of Keats`s state of mind from desperately wanting to live forever to finally accepting his destiny as a mortal being. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Tennessee Williams`s Summer and Smoke has a notable structural difference, in that the playwright casts the characters in a pattern of opposites. Contrasts seen in the main protagonists, Alma Winemiller and John Buchanan, help clarify the theme of the play, i.e. people are struggling to gain their `freedom` but are often thwarted because of the uncontrollable psychological and social forces. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Considering the significance of A Passage To India, Foster suggests an ironic idea of the struggle of bridging two different groups of people due to the distinctive cultures. The deed is idealistic since it tries to abolish any gaps between the two so as to create unification. The first and vital step should be to neutralize `prejudice`. Unfortunately, being prejudiced is as a matter of fact stirred by each individual owing to his own personality. According to Sigmund Freud (Hall & Lindzey, 1978, p.60) it is like an iceberg for others. The individual is characteristically understandable. The failure to overcome `prejudice` is finally the failure to accommodate differences. A Passage To India is not an idea of "a path" or " a bridge", but it is a portrait of the failure of people to achieve unification because of prejudice. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The National Mathematics Advisory Panel was given the task of reviewing research on the instructional practices that enable students to learn mathematics successfully. The authors argue that in conducting its review, which appears in Foundations for Success: The Final Report of the National Mathematics Advisory Panel (2008), the Panel imposed dangerous dichotomies, opposing extreme forms of teaching against one another. Such dichotomies bear little relation to the realities of mathematics classrooms in the United States and belie the research that has been conducted in mathematics education in the past 20 years. In addition, the methodological restrictions imposed by the Panel rendered the field of mathematics education virtually invisible. |
