| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The basis of the aouthor`s argument is that `most phenomena admit of more than one level of explanation.` Using the principle of `layered explanation, `he develops his position that theological and scientific theories on the beginning of life on earth need never compete for validity. Moreover, he maintains,`theology can preserve its integrity only if, firts, it cultivates the habit of layered explanation and, second, speaks unapologetically of divine action in terms of analogies irreducible to scientific clarification. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | What has been called `the most important Muslim-Christian dialogue in the world, `writes Cardinal George, began in 1994 at the UN international Conference on Population and Development in Cairo, where threats to mutual family values mobilized Chatolics, Evangelicals, and Muslim from many countries to form a coalition to combat a very vocal international secularist feminist contingent at the conference. The dialogue fomented by that coalition, which continues into the present, contains `pro-found implications for [establishment of] a world moral order. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The author illuminates traditional eucharistic theology with new insights into the connections among the eucharist, the chruch, and the Incarnation. He applies innovative interpretations to aspects of phenomenology, providing `an alternative to the excesses of postmodernism and deconstruction.` Finally, he develops a theological reflection on the eucharist which utilizes his interpretation of phenomenology to enrich our understanding of ` the one saving action that is the point of the created world.` Thought it is the policy of Theology Digest to use gender-inclusive language wherever posible, Monsigmor Sokolowski has made the following request, which we are honoring: `Like many others authors, I use the traditional style in regard to pronouns and gender (indeed, I have written specifically about the topic in Osservatore Romano, March 3, 1993), and I would like to have that style preserved in this essay. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | In early Christianity the Lord`s Supper was the tie that bound Christian communities together. The rich and varied interpretations of the Lord`s Supper in the NT, says Luz, invite each Christian confession to enrich its own understanding of the Lord`s Supper and not interpret the understandings of others as deficient. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The goal of ecumenism, says Cardinal Kasper, is not organic church union but unity in diversity, and the way to unity is not conversion to the Catholic Church but to Jesus Christ. The more we help one another come closer to Jesus Christ, the closer we come to one another. This lecture was given on the occasion of the author`s appoinment as honorary professor at the University of Tubingen in January 2001. |
