Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -

Abstraksi Narasi : The word ``sect`` has undergone a shift in meaning over the years. The term itself implies unquestioned following of a leader, exclusivity, and the conviction that only members of the group are saved. If the church is not to become a sect, it should never make claims to the throne on which God alone sits.

Sexuality in John`s Gospel

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 103-107
Abstraksi Narasi : In Christian interpretive history, exegetes have distanced themselves from considering than John`s gospel may contain explicit sexual connotations. This has resulted in a non-reflective, patriarchal and misogynist hermeneutic. If we read johannine dualism in a new way, says Schottroff, bodily existence can be incorporated into salvation, and our physical bodies will receive the dignity they deserve. The full version of this article will appear in a book edited by Fernando F. Segovia (tentatively titled What is John? Vol.2: Literary and Social Approaches to the Fourth Gospel.Symposium Series. Atlanta: Acholars Press).

For long-term reconciliation, we need to understand deepseated confessional tendencies that will influence confessional reaction to a teaching such as papal ministry. (This digest omits the author`s full exposition of the official Catholic teaching on papal primacy and infallibility.)

Abstraksi Narasi : In the 1950s F.-X. Durrwell rediscovered the salvific dimension of the resurrection. In the context of that theology, Tremblay focuses on the mystery of the filial relationship with God, especially as perceiveed in Durrwell`s Le Pere: Dieu en son mystere (1987). He begins with the identity of the Father, bringing out the filial character of the paschal mystery; reflects on the ontological ground of salvation which follows from that character (i.e., adoptive sonship); and indicates the demands that thereby result for Christian living.
