Abstraksi Narasi : When Christianity separated from its Jewish roots and began to look onJudaism as an ``other,`` its attitude became a paradigm of how it would regard ``others`` in years to come. While the denial of its Jewish origins left a deficit in Christian thought, a re-evaluation of those Jewish roots can assume decisive importance in interreligious dialogue.

Moses` death, Torth and the liturgy

Abstraksi Narasi : Moses` death (Dt 34) is a literary and theological marker. Moses sees the land, but cannot cross over the Jordan. The OT unfolds a ``primeval`` religious history that stops at the Jordan, and then adds several commentaries to carry that history forward. The Torah is the basic OT text; everything else is commentary. The NT Gospels are Christianity`s basic text. The liturgical sequence of readings should reflect this structure: Torah-other readings from the Old and New Testatements-Gospel, with perhaps more than one reading in between.

In this article, Father Fuchs explains more fully what he meant by that statement.

Evil, tragedy, and feminist theology: new impulses for theodicy

Nomor Halaman : 29-33
Abstraksi Narasi : Traditional approaches to theodicy have been prejudicial to the feminist cause, and some feminist theologians have proposed corrective paradigms, including a theodicy based on the classical Greek idea of tragedy. While such a secular principle must be reinterpreted in Christian terms and balanced with separate realities such as oppression and injustice, the concept of tragedy offers the promise of a theodicy that refuses to blunt the sharp edges of evil by tracing it to a good cause, a theodicy that can lead to effective action againts particular evils.

Authenticity, truth and truthfulness in interreligious dialogue

Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 13-17
Abstraksi Narasi : Christian theology does not maintain the truth, but truthfully witnesses to Christ, who is the center of all truth. What Christians bring to interreligious dialogue is the proclamation of Jesus Christ as Lord (2 Cor 4:2-6)-nothing more and nothing less. Authentic dialogue indeed does lead to difficulties, but they are shared difficulties.

Nomor Halaman : 323-328
Abstraksi Narasi : We have been so concerned to say the efficacy of a sacrament does not depend on the disposition of the minister that we have given inadequate attention to human factors in the way the sacrament is practiced. A careful consideration of these factors will help us see the sacrament of penance as a process of different moments in the act of conversion.

Religious, contemplative and active, are to reveal the prophetic character of mission which requires accepting the option for the poor and working toward the transformation of culture.

Abstraksi Narasi : Taking as a starting point the recent discussion of euthanasia in Europe, Reuter summarizes and gives moral evaluations of different situations in which euthanasia may be considered. As this debate leaves us with the question of the meaning of suffering, it may be useful to examine anthropological and theological approaches to suffering that tought to inform our response to those who request euthanasia.
