Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 209-214
Abstraksi Narasi : Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all ``people of the book.`` However, the way in which that ``book`` is understood varies according to the religion. A deeper knowledge of the Jewish and Christian traditions in the Koran can help dialogue, encourage mutual respect and enable Christians and Muslims to stand together before God as believers.

Peacemaking in Latin American liberation theology

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 225-228
Abstraksi Narasi : Latin American liberation theologians frequently have been criticized for using the Marxist social critique and, by some, of even advocating violence. However, an examination of their recent writings shows that their focus on a spirituality of justice and peace should dispel any doubt about their fundamental concern with peace and peacemaking.

Paul Tillich`s dynamic concept of faith

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 247-252
Abstraksi Narasi : Paul Tillich`s concept of faith as ``ultimate concern`` is known even to those who know little or nothing about Tillich`s theology. Faith, as Tillich defines it, is being grasped by what concerns us utimately. It is an act of the total person which makes dialogue with culture and non-Christian religions possible, and which can save us from anxiety, doubt, and meaninglessness. In the final analysis, human beings are ``incurably`` religious.

Ignored opportunities for women in canon law

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 235-238
Abstraksi Narasi : In canon 204, para, 1 and canon 208 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law basic norms are provided for ``the people of God`` as they choose a life`s vocation. The basic principle of these cannons is the equality of all of God`s people. However, canon 1024 limits the ministerial priesthood to baptized males. How, asks Ida Raming, are we to understand this contradiction? Is canon 1024 theologically justifiable? What does ``canonically suitable `` (c. 1206) mean? Are we not to respect God`s Spirit which ``allots to each one as he/she chooses`` (1 Cor 11:12)/

Fundamentalism

Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 239-244
Abstraksi Narasi : While the word ``fundamentalism`` had its historical origins in a North American Protestant protest movement, it has become an overused term for anyone who thinks differently than we do. In fact we are all prome to fundamentalism. The Christian church has to struggle to overcome fundamentalism by maintaining a healthy balance between openness to the world and not diluting or abandoning the identity of the Christian faith.

Christians and Jews

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 203-208
Abstraksi Narasi : This essay is a ``postscript`` to a correspondence between Professor Friedmann and Karl Rahner published over twenty-eight years ago. Professor Friedmann agrees with Franz Rosenzweig that the home of the Jews is the exile-the life between God`s promise to Abraham and its fulfillment at the end of time. The relationship between Judaism and Christianity, says Friedmann, is a dialectic of two salvation histories that supplement and reinforce each other.

Christ, our light, and world religions

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 215-219
Abstraksi Narasi : As Christians we say that Jesus Christ is our light. Is this light compatible with the lights of others (Buddha, Muhammad)? Yes, says Kung, because this compatibility corresponds to Christ`s spirit. World religions seek world peace, and this search must be based on a partnership that is general but not abstract, critical and still a bearer of hope.

Abstraksi Narasi : While agreeing with the feminist theological critique of Western feminists, Nam-Soon Kang also believes that Asia is a very different environment. The standards that apply in the West cannot be universalized, especially in Asia where the Confucian tradition is still very deep and strong.
