| Abstraksi Narasi | : | In Spring, 1987, Theology Digest published Helen Schungel-Straumann`s, ``God as mother in Hosea 11.`` On the basis of grammar, etymology, exegesis, method, etc., Kreuzer argues that Schungel-Straumann`s interpretation of Hosea 11 is untenable. Because of masculine forms, Hos 11 does suppose God is father. But some forms are masculine plural and therefore may include women. Thus, Hos 11 may also contain images of parental love and faithfulness. Beyond the grammatical and semantic discussion Kreuzer shows that exegetical observations on Hos 11 give hermeneutical clues for the possibilities and limitations of anthropomorphic God images. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | God never revoked his salvation promise to the Jews (Rom 11). For Christians the Jewish people are a reminder that the fulfillment of God`s lordship does not lie with Christians or with the conversion of everyone to the Christian God. Furthermore, any attempt to make ``sense`` out of the Holocaust is a mockery. While there is no such thing as a ``correct`` interpretation of Auschwitz, nevertheless, says Elisabeth Hank, every theology must ask itself whether it is formulated by thinking about the Holocaust. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Though not a well-known theme to Christians today, Jesus` descent into hell was an important element in Christian art, especially during the late Middle Ages. One representative example of this art clearly shows a universalism of the Christian understanding of salvation. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | If we today ask where prophetic charism is to be found in our world, the only answer is: in the church. All Christians, says Norbert Lohfink, are prophets and charismatics; not necessarily in external appearance, but in function. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The New Age is not a church, a sect, institution or religion. It requires no dues, has no membership criteria and no dogmas. Is, asks Maria Widl, the spirit of the New Age the Spirit of God? Or is it unspiritual and worldly? |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Magig is part of humanity and its religion. Magic and religion belong together. It is, say the authors, pure ignorance to claim that religious practices one does not understand or may find strange are meaningless and irrational. Using anthropological research and personal experience, the authors also seek to show that symbolism has an important function in magic and religion. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | According to Marie-Louise Gubler, the early church did not understand unity as uniformity, but as living diversity. Today, as them, ``there are varieties of gifts... and service but... it is the same God who inspires them all in everyone`` (1Cor 12:4-6). |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Is has always been difficult to determine what is meant by liberation from sin. However, it is even more difficult, says Jon Sobrino, when people have no awareness of what sin is. God`s revelation tells us not only that sin exists, but that there is the possibility of forgiveness. This forgiveness includes forgiveness-absolution, but even more, forgiveness-acceptance. This forgiveness-acceptance found in Jesus` ministry is evident today among the poor and oppressed of Latin America. They shows us our sin by accepting us as we are, and in so doing have done for us what God wants for all sinners. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Many tribes of Black Africa consider cult of the ancestors a necessity if they themselves are to live and in turn become a source of life. The ancestor has a role as founder and unifier of all life and harmony in the community. How can this cult relate to eucharistic celebration in Black Africa? (Readers may want to refer to the author`s article developing Christ as Proto-ancestor in TD, Summer 82. |
