| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Ancient apocalyptic thought was not merely concerned with the end-time, but with disclosure and revelation. Today, apocalyptic thought openly refutes the myth of progress and reveals to us that our continued destruction of the environment cannot continue ``to go on the way it always has.`` |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | H.-M. Schenke and R. Pesch`s hypothesis that 1 Thessalonians is a composition made up of two separate Pauline letters is plausible, says Bohlen. But this partition hypothesis doesn`t represent the only meaningful answer to the question of the literary unity of 1 Thessalonians. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Ecclesiological studies since Vatican II have emphasized both the dignity and the ministry of the lay person in the Christian church. However, it would be difficult today to claim any theological consensus on the meaning and scope of the term ``lay.`` Osborne`s intent is not to define the term, but to present some of the major factors that engender obscurity and provide guidelines that must be considered in every theological attempt to clarify it. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | At the end of the summer semester, 1987 professor Gerhard Lohfink resigned his professorship on the Catholic Theological Faculty at the University of Tubingen in order to live and work in the ``integrated community`` in Munich. What follows is Lohfink`s farewell address. It begins with words of thanks and appreciaton to Deacon Peter Hunermann, to Lohfink`s colleagues, both Catholic and Protestant, the journal, Theologische Quartal schrift, his many students, Bishop Georg Moser and the diocese of Rottenberg. Professor Lohfink stresses that he is not leaving because he no longer feels at home in his diocese, because the university no longer wants him, or because he is experiencing ``midlife-crisis.`` Rather, he says, he is leaving because he has discovered something stronger and more fascinating than anything he has experienced thus far in his life. Because, he says, it is so difficult to speak about his love in a lecture, he chooses to speak about its objective foundation, i.e., the kingdom of God. Though considerably longer than a normal digest, we think the author, but even more the topic, merits the additional space. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Marriage and celibacy differ not in terms of quality, but of function. Both lifestyles have their own special tasks. Celibacy should not be valued over marriage. If both acknowledge their missions and live them out, they will be fruitful to God`s honor and the church`s joy. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The church, says Wilhelm Zauner, is not the work of pope, bishops, priests, deacons, religious and laity, but the work of Christ. We are all ``co-workers in Jesus Christ`` (cf Rom 16:3,9). |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The historical development of the terms laos and laikos has led to confusion and consternation in the church. If, says Peter Neuner, we had a correct theology of the people of God, we would not need a special theology of the laity. The church needs office bearers, but they cannot replace what the church in all its called to do as the people of God. |
