Ecumenism againts itself

Nama Pengarang : Richard John Neuhaus, Smith, Huston, Waldemar Chrostowski
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 327-337
Abstraksi Narasi : While much progress has been made in the ecumenical movement, there is still a long way to go. Some of our chief ecumenical problems, says Neuhaus, result not from abandoning ecumenism, but from its success. The very progress that has been made can produce indifference to the continuing scandal of our disunity. The Church of God is not yet what it is called to be. The peace we are to seek is the peace to which we are called, i.e., full communion in Christ who is our shalom with God and with one another.

Does this mean that for some Christians there are parts of the NT that are not normative?

Tillich grasped an idea that was well-known in philosophical and theological tradition. However, Tillich`s contribution was ``new`` in that the he did not view the tradition as the dead weight of the past, but used it to address the important problems of his-and our-time.
