Abstraksi Narasi : Our American court system, as well as newspaper columnists and others, have struggled recently to define Secular Humanism. Is it or is it not a religion? How does religion differ from science and philosophy? Philosophers, too, have attempted to define ``Christian philosophy`` (e.g.,the Society of Christian Philosophers). What would a Christian philosopher be? How would such a person differ from someone who believes and/or practices a religion? In the final analysis, says Sweeney, ``the philosophizing of all Christians must be Christian if and to the extent their faith in Christianity is genuinely operative.

Nomor Halaman : 226-231
Abstraksi Narasi : A theological ``center`` of the Old Testament is the covenant formula, ``I will be your God, and you shall be my people`` (Jer 7:23;cf Dr 26:17). However, for a long time Christianity has taken offense at the ``particularism`` of the OT notion of ``people of God.`` But according to Werner Schmidt, the OT is a starlingly open book which surmounts the boundaries of nations, i.e., particularism. The decisive point, finally, is belonging to the religion, not the people.

Abstraksi Narasi : According to Bede Griffiths, a ``paradigm shift`` is taking place in human consciousness and we are beginning to see the world and our own place in it in a new way. The major sign of this shift is to be found in the new understanding of the universe in modern physiscs. According to Fritjof Capra`s seminal book, The Tao of Physics, Western science, which had developed a materialistic view of reality opposed to all forms of religion, has now begun to discover the limitations of science and the possibility of other modes of consciousness beyond the mental and rational.
