Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 127-131
Abstraksi Narasi : If the history of the Jewish people has been an inspiration for liberation theologians, the foucs of liberationists on the desperate situation of the poor can be a clarion call to Jews who may have forgotten their mission to be ``a light to the nations.`` Rabbi Cohn-Sherbok explores ways liberation theology offers new grounds for Jewish-Christian encounter.

Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 139-144
Abstraksi Narasi : Though the theory of evolution is scientifically sound, there are still people today who say it is incompatible with belief in a personal creator God. Prof. Carsten Bresch, a biologist, explains what evolution means in today`s science, discusses the various views of creation as understood by Christian fundamentalists and agnostic materialists and concludes by saying there is no honest contradiction between evolution and Christianity.

Eucharist without bread and wine?

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 133-138
Abstraksi Narasi : Should the use of local elements be allowed for a third-world church that cannot easily obtain bread and wine for eucharistic celebration? Pastoral considerations are important, but the question is theological and should be handled as such. The argument from tradition usually rejects any substitution. Mampila considers limits of the traditional argument and tries to sort out what is consitutive of eucharist with a view to specifying what is invariable in the sacrament.

Collegiality of bishops without Roman centrism?

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 145-148
Abstraksi Narasi : According to Knut Walf, collegiality is an historically ``loaded,`` ambivalent, fascinating-and dangerous-concept. Progress toward collegiality faces many hurdles but perhaps none as great as what the new 1983 Code of Canon Law says about the church`s hierarchical constitution.

Addressing the crisis in moral theory: Clues from Aquinas and Gilligan

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 103-113
Abstraksi Narasi : Taking the feminist critique of Carol Gilligan, Paul J. Philibert attempts to show that Thomas Aquinas` moral anthropology is closer in spirit to what Gilligan considers a feminist moral anthropology than it is to the Cartesian/Kantian stream of ethical formalism. Aquinas organized his moral teaching around concerns similar to those of the feminist: relationality, compassion, and continuity.

``Purgatory``

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 31-36
Abstraksi Narasi : The doctrine of purgatory, says Gerhard Muller, needs to be reinterpreted in the light of eschatology. Purgatory is not some place of lesser blessedness, but one moment in the all-encompasing encounter with God. God, through his Word made flesh and the gift of the Holy Spirit, is the foundation and center of the human person raised to perfection and loving union with God.

The Church of the Acts of the Apostles; A model for our times

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 19-24
Abstraksi Narasi : The church`s growth a presented in the Acts of the Apostles, says Joseph Pathrapankal, can serve as a model for today`s church. Led by dynamic leaders, and above all by the Holy Spirit, through numerous crises, the church in The Acts of the Apostles grew and prospered. The crises in today`s church can also contribute toward its growth, particularly in those areas (e.g., India) where the church lives in a multi-religious culture.

Solidarity and freedom: Christian ethic in Africa

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 48-50
Abstraksi Narasi : An African theologian examines the positive experience of the Africans` sense of and love for community life and shared relationships. Life is fully lived only in close ties with both the living and the dead. Their experience and teaching about family and tribal communion shares much with more recent theology of the Mystical Body and of the church as a sacrament of unity. How does the individual fare in responsible moral decisions that must be made freely in such a close-knit community? Bujo explores the positives and the negatives.
