| Abstraksi Narasi | : | When the sponsors of the Congar Symposium wrote to Yves Congar telling of plans to celebrate his 80th birthday, he graciously responded with a reflection on the development of his theological method. While he had no clear plan for his life, he says, he nevertheless knew very early what he wanted to do. Looking back, he sees a pattern of interaction: this early desire, his interest in the sources, and external circumstances that called for a theological response at different points in his life. This translation of his letter contains minor omissions and editing, and footnotes have been added. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Remembering those we loved, those who taught us things, says Frederick Beuchner (Sacred Journey. New York: harper & Row, 1982), ``is a matter not only of remembering them as they used to be but of seeing and hearing them as in some sense they are now. If they had things to say to us then, they have things to say to us now too, nor are they by any means always the things we expect or the same things.`` Jon Sobrino remembers Karl Rahner not only as someone who once taught him something, but who still teaches him. Sobrino does not wish to make Rahner into a liberation theologian-not even an anonymous one. He merely wants to show how the basic presuppositions of Rahner`s theology are in harmony with Latin American theology. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Are immortality and resurrection ideas which first developed in the Maccabean era? According to Ramaroson, Psalms 16, 73 and 49, which predate the Maccabean era, reveal the hope of eternal life and closeness to God. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | In recent years research and technology have found ever new ways for controlling human life. New possibilities raise new questions for biology, biotechnology and bioethics: I) What do ``bioethics`` and ``control over human life`` mean? II) What are bioethic`s problems today? III) Who decides? Joseph Fuchs addresses these questions and says that bioethics is not a new ethic but the application of ethics`s fundamental principles to the new challenges of the time. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | For Yves Congar the starting point in one`s approach to ecclesiology has a bearing on the understanding of ministry, while one`s understanding of ministry implies an ecclesiology. McBrien traces the development of this resiprocal relationship in Congar`s thinking and indicates his contribution to 20th-century theology. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | According to Hans Walter Wolff, the prophetic mandate to ``beat swords into plowshares`` is an eschatological promise to the nations but a present requirement for God`s people, Israel. ``The house of Jacob`` lives now in the light of Yahweh`s promise (Is 2:5). The prophetic word concretizes what is definitively stated in the New Testamen: ``Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ`` (Phil 1:27)! |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The place to begin any discussion of the ``poor church,`` ``the church of the poor,`` says Norbert Lohfink, is the prophet Zephaniah. Zephaniah, similar to other eighth century prophets, inverts the expectation of the ``Day of Yahweh.`` Yahweh`s judgment will also come upon Israel. But Zephaniah introduces something new: not destruction but newness. And not only newness for Israel but for the nations as well. Yahweh`s eschatological community will consist of the ``poor of Yahweh`` where there will be no more exploitation or oppression. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | In this book A Crt of Absence (San Francisco: Harper and Row, 1983), Martin Marty contrasts what he calls ``summery`` and ``wintry`` spiritualities. He recalls an interview with Karl Rahner originally published in Herder Korrespondenz. In response to a question about the church of the future Rahner says: ``I am inclined to think that in the future there will be two types of spirituality and piety-naturally they are related to each other and, once again, are not chemically pure.`` Marty continues, ``In matters of faith and piety, nothing is ever chemically pure. The summery types have to be honest and know that behind their smiling fcadesand their forced Praise the Lords the serious soul knows Absence when doubt pleads for time, when despair intrudes, when death scourges. And what of the wintry persons who test faith in solidarity with those on the godless horizon? They will not endure if they never respond with a Yes. Such seekers will not wait for God forever, unless some warm rays of affirmation break through the winter in their hearts. No, the two types are not ``chemically pure` ``(p. 10). In this article Rahner provides us a ``warm ray of affirmation,`` reminding us that our winters can be received with faith because they are the arrival not only of failure and death but of the incomprehensible God. |
