| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Donald Georgen, O.P., author of The Sexual Celibate and The Power of Love: Christian Spirituality and Theology, is currently working on a christology. A preliminary study for one chapter was the basis of his Aquinas Lecture sponsored by Aquinas Institute at St. Louis University in January, 1984. Georgen makes three observations on Aquinas` theology, then offers suggestions drawn from these. 1) The open, developing spirit in Thomas is illustrated by shifts of opinion in his christology. 2) The operative criterion in these shifts is biblical; later opinions come down on the side of a question more readily supported by Scripture. We begin the text of the lecture with the third observation, an exploration of Thomas`s dedication to Jesus` humanity. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | What is it that is really going on when people are being redeemed? Is the process concerned only with the inner life (a Gnostic claim), or is it a past historical event (always a part of the Christian assertion)? Dr. Hellwig considers these questions as well as challenges available from technological advances, political developments, and ecumenical perspectives as we seek to broaden the Christian understanding of salvation. And she proposes thought-provoking questions of her own as she outlines issues that must be faced in coming to this fuller perception and in evaluating appropriate responses to the divine redemptive initiative. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Neglect of our heritage from Augustine and Aquinas can only leave us impoverished in our approach to modern problems. Bourke illustrates how we can draw from the wisdom of the past, making appropriate revisions in light of today`s experience, as we tackle seemingly insoluble questions of overpopulation, pornography, abortion, and modern warfare. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | This lecture was originally given as the 1983 William L. Rossner Visiting Scholar Lecture, at Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Missouri. Recent events show that ecumenism is alive and well. 1983 saw the publication of the ``Lima Document,`` Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry, and of Justification by Faith (joint document of the Lutheran/Roman Catholic Dialogue Commission in the U.S.). It was also the year that marked the fifth centenary of Martyn Luther`s birth. Many conferences and joint worship services, and even a papal letter, commemorated this event. On December 11, 1983, Pope John Paul II went to the Lutheran Christuskirche in Rome, where he-co-presided at Vespers with Pastor Christ of Meyer. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Traditional arguments for the existence of God seem unconvincing to the modern mind. In this outline of contemporary approaches to God Alfaro shows how Christian revelation respond to the deepest aspirations of the human heart. |
