Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 143-145
Abstraksi Narasi : How to deal with the many divorced and remarried Catholics who want to receive Communion is a pressing pastoral issue. The current discipline-recently reaffirmed by the International Commission of Theology-forbids Communion. This aticle, while respecting that position, assesses its dogmatic underpinnings and suggests, in restricted cases, a pastoral evolution stressing the Eucharist as a sign of Christ`s forgiving love.

Nomor Halaman : 115-123
Abstraksi Narasi : For Evangelicals, says Prof. Pannenberg, the prospect of Roman Catholic recognition of the Augsburg Confenssion is breath-taking. Abstraksi Narasi : When Paul spoke about freedom from slavery did he have a political goal in mind? For Luise Schottroff, though Paul pursued no political objectives, his belief in Christ`s dominion over all did have profound political ramifications. The Pax Romana was a lie, as numeous 1st-century writers attest. Christ`s dominion meant and means the end of slavery in every aspect of life.

Original sin and theological displacements

Nama Pengarang : -
Nama Majalah/Jurnal : Theology Digest
Volume / Nomor Edisi : -
Nomor Halaman : 133-136
Abstraksi Narasi : That J.P. Jossua could call Augustine`s version of original sin a chimera (1976), and that fellow theologians would listen to him, witnesses to considerable development in the theology of original sin. Modern man`s revulsion to admitting he is a member of a historically and collectively sinful line of descent is not unconnected with the questioning the believer himself brings to expressions of his faith. Duquoc examines the Augustinian synthesis which gave birth to the classical doctrine, notes the disappearance of certain notions basic to that synthesis, indicates recent approaches to expressing original sin and gives an assessment and guide for believers in forming a judgment.

An area where this issue comes to practical application is the ordination or appoinment of pastors and bishops. What say should the laity and the clergy have in these events? The present article rehearses the history of the question and sketches the theological grounds for restoring real lay participation in choosing ministers.
