| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Human resorces in the global era should be creative, competitive, and science and tehnological oriented. This quality will be achieved if education is aimed at creating opportunities to develop the students` affection to learn from or by themselves. Educationalprocess should apply a heuristic approach characterized by utilization of enquiry methods, experiments, projects, etc. The existing educational institutions should be handled by a perfect educational management. It is management emphasizing the needs of educational consumers, aspecially students, optimalizing role of the senate or school council as motor and source of ideas for development of the institution, utilizing a decentralization system, mobilizing public funds to speed up the institution, applying the principle of personnels` participation, and improving community cooperation and control. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | This research was aimed at obtaining empirical descriptions on performance of primary school principals in implementing structional supervision in terms of their biographical background. The sample consisted of 120 principals selected from primary schools i West Java. Data were gathered by questionnaire and analysed statiscally by t-test and percentage measures. The results show that the principals master instructional supervision skills in a minimum level so that their performance in implementing instructional supervision is relatively imperfect. Biographical background has little effects upon principals` performance in implementing instructional supervision. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | Working environment was potential stressor affecting teachers` stres. The findings of previous researchers indicated that working environment was one of a number of stressors. The main purpose of this study was to explore stressors dominantly affecting the teachers` stres. The stratified random sample was 555 teachers drawn from Ujung Pandang, Luwu, Polewali Mamasa, Bantaeng, and Sinjai, South Sulawesi. It was found out that the stressors dominantly affecting teachers` stres were cut in payment, neglected promotion, students` deviation of behavior, conflict with school personnel, noisy school environment, and lack of motivation, attention, and response of their students upon subject matters. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The aim of this study was to develop and validate an instrument of classroom climate based on the instrument developed in Australia. The instrumen consisted of two forms, the actual and preferred forms, to measure aspects of the actual and preferred classroom climate. The study involved 1126 grade V and VI elementary school students in Padang, West Sumatera. Data were analysed by applying factor analysis, Cronbach Alpha and discriminant validity. The result of the study demonstrated that the empirical evidence supported the items grouped into scales. The internal consistency of the instrument was higher than the previous version. Each item of the instrument does not overlap with the others. So, the instrument can be implemented to measure classroom climate. It is suggested to validate the instrument for junior high school students. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | This experimental study was intended to test the influence of two methods applied in teaching History, Creative Problem Solving (CPS), Historiographical Process (HP), and Lecturing Methods (LM). The subjects were students of State Senior High Schools (SMUN) in Surakarta Municipality assigned randomly into experimental groups and control groups. At the beginning of the treatment, the subjects were tested on their aptitudes, using two batteries of the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT), to measure Verbal and Abstract Abilities. Their learning outcomes were tested by using an achievement test. The resultshowed that there was a different influence of the three methods applied in teaching History and that the Creative Problem Solving method was more effective than the others. It was suggested that an aptitude test could be implemented to predict students` learning outcomes. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The main purpose of this study was explore problems faced by primary school principals in implementing pupil management. The sample consisted of 60 primary school principals from regions developed by the Primary Education Quality Improvement Project (PEQIP) participating in a management training held in IKIP MALANG, 1997. Data were gathered by questionnaire and then verified by a group of peer reviewers. The results showed that problems faced by primary school principals in pupil management were school census, pupil recruitment, pupil orientation, pupil placement, pupil grouping, pupil discipline, guidance and counseling services, pupil evaluation, pupil mutation and school-leaving, and extra-curricular activities. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The main purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between clients` perception of counseling, counselors` communication skills in counseling and clients` self-disclosure in counseling in terms of their sexes. Subjects consisted of four counselors and eight clients. The data were collected by questionaires and scoring-criteria and analysed by Spearman rank order correlation and Mann-Withney U test. The findings showed that there was no significant correlation between clients` perception of counseling and self-disclosure in counseling, but there was a positive correlation between counselors` communication skill and clients` self-disclosure. There was no significant difference between clients` self-disclosure in counseling for female and male clients, but there was a difference in clients` self-disclosure toward female and male counselors. Female and male clients were more disclosed toward female-counselors. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | This descriptive study attempted to explore the pattern of Kindergartens pupils` behavior in consumming traditional foods. The sample consisted of 60 pupils drawn purposively from two private Kindergartens. The data were collected from their parents with a questionnaire and analysed by using narrative descriptions, t-test and Spearman product moment correlations. It could be concluded that there were correlations between the patterns of Kindergarten pupil`s behavior in consumming traditional foods and mothers` education, mothers` comprehension on nutrition, parents` income, and frequencies of family`s attendance in restaurants. It was suggested that traditional foods or snacks could be consumed by Kindergarten pupils as additional foods. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The purpose of this study was to explore the role of the mothers in implementing family education for their children. This research was held in an urban district and rural district in Surabaya. Data were collected from 118 mothers in urban families and 148 mothers in rural families by observations and interviews, and then analysed qualitatively. It was concluded that most mothers in the city have had understanding about education, the significance of education, and the type of education. Educational facilities and methods they applied were good enough, but only 41% of them have gotten formal information on education. They communicated with the schools only in relation with the academic achievements of their children. The condition of the family education in the rural was lower than in the urban district in all of these aspects. |

| Abstraksi Narasi | : | The purpose of this study was to describe information about educational quality of Primary Schools (SD) supported or developed by the Primary Education Quality Improvement Project (PEQIP) in Indonesia. The study was held in 90 Primary Schools from six Provinces. Data were collected by an educational quality assessment instrument and analysed statistically in central tendency (mean) measures. It was found that education quality of Primary Schools developed by the Primary Education Quality Improvement Project (PEQIP) fell into good category, especially in those aspects as school leadership, school environment, school finance, learning-teaching process, school organization, and personnel attendance. |
