Abstrak: This article develops a semantic model of lyric poetry using the mathematical resources of René Thom's catastrophe theory. In doing this, its central aim is to show that the semantic organization of the lyric can be understood as an embryonic articulation of the basic actional competencies that underwrite narrative expression. In terms of detail, the model shows that any lyric can be conceived as a system involving three macro-structural components (the speaker's consciousness, an indifferent or hostile environment and a desired object) whose reciprocal interactions define what Thom identifies as a cusp catastrophe. In turn, this catastrophist system is shown to correspond with A.J. Greimas' notion of a narrative program, and thus narrative is identified as the superimposition of numerically different lyrical trajectories upon one another. The end result of this is a revised understanding of lyrical semantics that postulates a commonality in how both lyric and narrative refer to world.

Abstrak: Dinegara negara berkembang, kota kota besar sedang mengalami fenomena pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang mengesankan. Banyak dari kota kota besar tersebut yang di transformasi ke "mega cities dalam kurun waktu yang relatif pendek (+20-30 tahun). Dalam beberapa kasus keadaan ini diiringi dengan peningkatan jumlah penduduk dan tingkat kemakmuran. Tetapi, faktor faktor ini menyebabkan melambungnya nilai tanah dan kelangkaan penyediaannya terutama pada tempat tempat didalam kata. Sebagai konsekwensinya dapat dilihat tumbulnya gedung gedung tinggi yong seringkali memadukan aspek niaga dan kebutuhan habitat manusia. Faktor faktor itulah yang mendorong berkembangnya pemikiran memadukan beberapa konsep penggunaan tanah dalam suatu kawasan terpadu baik secara horisontal maupun vertikal yang dikenal dengan istilah "mixed-use development" atau MXD (kerap kali disebut juga sebagai superblok). Keberadaan kawasan superblok ini sekarang sedang berperan menentukan perubahan perubahan penting terhadap wajah dan karakter urban dari kota kota metropolitan yang tentunya nanti akan menimbulkan karakter karakter urban baru. Paper ini membahas peranan MXD vertikal sebagai salah satu tren perkembangan kota dimasa depan.

Abstrak: Although giving back is consistently recognized as a goal of Native (Native Hawaiian, Native American, and Alaska Native) college students, little in the literature describes giving back in detail. To fill this gap, this research examines the essence of giving back as it is experienced by Native college graduates. It explores, through both Indigenous and phenomenological research methodologies, how Native college graduates come to value giving back, enact giving back, and make meaning of giving back. The findings from this study contribute to what is known about how Native college graduates may contribute to the self-determination of their nations and call for a reconceptualization of postsecondary success for Native peoples.
