| Abstrak | : | The history of software agent architectures has been driven by the parallel requirements of real-time decision-making and the sophistication of the capabilities the agent can provide. Starting from reactive, rule based, subsumption through to layered and belief-desire-intention architectures, a compromise always has to be reached between the ability to respond to the environment in a timely manner and the provision of capabilities that cope with relatively complex environments. In the spirit of these past developments, this paper is proposing a novel "anthropomorphic" agent architecture that brings together the most desirable features: natural language definitions of agent reasoning and skill descriptions, shared knowledge with operators, the combination of fast reactive as well as long term planning, ability to explain why certain actions are taken by the autonomous agent and finally inherent formal verifiability. With these attributes, the proposed agent architecture can potentially cope with the most demanding autonomous space missions. |
Enhanced Inversion of Nonsmooth Initial Status for the Convection-Diffusion Equation Utilizing Multitemporal Observations

| Abstrak | : | This paper considers the inverse problem of recovering the nonsmooth initial status for the linear convection-diffusion equation from multitemporal observations, also known as the backward problem. Unlike classical backward problems, which typically involve a single observation, we aim to develop a more accurate and stable inversion scheme by leveraging multitemporal observations through data assimilation. First, to recover the nonsmooth feature of the initial status, we propose a novel offline data assimilation scheme by incorporating the anisotropic total variation seminorm into the classical four-dimensional variational data assimilation. Based on the Kalman filter, we propose a new approach for solving the minimization problem in this data assimilation scheme, which enables us to sequentially assimilate the observations. This approach requires less memory size and CPU time during computations. Next, a general data assimilation framework with a convex penalty term is proposed, and then a novel online data assimilation scheme is developed. Finally, the alternating proximal gradient method is used to solve the discretized data assimilation problems. This optimization technique ensures computational efficiency while maintaining ease of implementation. We present several numerical experiments for the backward problem to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. |
