| Abstrak | : | Although critical views of language education have redefined teacher roles, teachers` understanding of their own position within the ideological contestations surrounding language teaching is not widely investigated. This narrative study explores the perspectives of three Iranian English language teachers on the sociocultural roles and responsibilities that they may assume for themselves and examines how such perspectives are shaped. In extensive multi-session narrative interviews, the participants shared their stories of becoming a teacher, starting from their retrospection on teacher roles during their language learning. Our narrative analysis depicts their different trajectories of shaping conceptions of language teachers` sociocultural roles in three stages : as a language learner, as a student teacher, and as a beginner teacher. On this basis, their narrative accounts of becoming English teachers appear to indicate that critical sociocultural views still play a marginal role in actual teacher preparation processes and the field needs to further embrace critical approaches to language teacher education aimed at raising English language teachers` awareness of their sociocultural responsibility. Moreover, our participants` narratives illustrate that understanding the genesis of language teachers` teaching philosophies requires a wide perspective of their long-term background of learning (to teach) the language. |

| Abstrak | : | The problem of approximating any n + 1 times differentiable function near a particular point by a polynomial of degree ≤???? is of great importance both in theory and in applications of analysis. In its various formulations, this problem has a long and interesting history, going back almost 300 years. As is well known, Taylor’s Theorem tells us one way that such an approximation can be made and gives an expression for the error in the approximation. The purpose of this article is to give an overview of Taylor’s Theorem and explore interconnections among various expressions for the remainder term. |

| Abstrak | : | English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers in under-resourced contexts are prone to constraining factors influencing their interactive and technological pedagogical choices. To cast light on this population of EFL teachers` technology-integrated interactive teaching practices, such as technology-assisted project-based language learning (TAPBLL), this study examines EFL teachers` perceptions of TAPBLL before and after its implementation in Lebanon, Libya, and Syria. Survey and interview data were collected from 25 EFL teachers. The interviews were conducted via WebEx and Zoom between Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. The analysis of the data was guided by a phenomenological approach and the author identified themes from the participants` responses. The findings reveal that all teachers in the three contexts perceive TAPBLL as a desired teaching approach although they encountered a number of challenges when attempting to implement it. The findings provide implications for further research and teacher professional development. |

| Abstrak | : | Two classic plane curves, the epitrochoid and hypotrochoid, can be placed together in an optimal nested form. We find the appropriate equations by way of complex variables, and we also get a surprising answer for the slope of a particular tangent line. |

| Abstrak | : | The formula for the derivative of the inverse is a standard calculus computation, but the difference between (????−1)′ and (????′)−1 is often a challenge for students to keep track of. In this paper we explore whether it is possible to find a function f so that these two functions are equal. We show that there is no such function using basic ideas familiar to any calculus student, like monotonicity. Along the way, we take a short detour to explore what concavity means when a function is not twice differentiable and demonstrate some slick applications of the Mean and Intermediate Value Theorems. |

| Abstrak | : | A theory for the solution of the Riemann problem for a one-dimensional, quasi-linear, 2×2 system of conservation laws describing reactive transport in a permeable medium with pH-dependent adsorption is developed. The system is strictly hyperbolic and nongenuinely nonlinear because the adsorption isotherms are not convex functions. The solution comprises nine fundamental structures, which are a concatenation of elementary and composed waves. In the limit of low pH, the isotherms reduce to convex two-component Langmuir isotherms considered in chromatography, and the solution comprises only four fundamental structures, as in classical theory. Semianalytical solutions and highly resolved numerical simulations show good agreement in all cases. |
