| Abstrak | : | In a university Master's program, for educational professionals seeking professional development, a networked learning intervention was conducted to facilitate students' construction of learning relations for their academic development. Answers were sought to the question on how adult distance university students experience informal learning networks with peers as part of their academic socialization processes. The development of learning networks in two cohorts of students was analyzed using Social Network Analyses (SNA) at three moments during the course. Based on SNA results, 16 students were interviewed on their experiences with these learning networks. Results show that students used their learning networks for knowledge construction, for academic socialization and to mitigate feelings of social and cognitive inadequacy. Results suggest that there is a relation between the ability to engage in learning relationships, and academic socialization processes and the utilization of new knowledge in students own professional practice. |

| Abstrak | : | The Least Unique Positive Integer game (LUPI) is among the simplest games that can be played by any number of players, N > 2, and has a nontrivial strategic component. In LUPI, players try to pick the smallest positive integer nobody else picks. Despite its simplicity, the game was not widely known until fairly recently. It was actually offered as a state run lottery game in Sweden in 2007, but players collaborated, and the game was quickly stopped. LUPI has also been proposed as the basis for a reverse auction system, and here it is proposed as a “party game”. The Nash equilibrium for the game has been previously worked out in the case where the numbers of players that make each choice are independent Poisson random variables, an assumption that can often be justified when N is large. Here we summarize previous work and derive a number of interesting new results on Nash equilibria when N is small, and when N is large using the Poisson assumption. We also investigate whether the Nash equilibrium strategies for LUPI games are evolutionary stable strategies. Finally, we look at cheating strategies for LUPI and devise ways to make it harder to cheat. |

| Abstrak | : | Despite recent advances in research on coaching, gaps remain in our understanding of effective coaching. We conducted a narrative review of a purposefully selected set of research reports on content-focused coaching to identify one-on-one coaching practices that can support teachers' development of ambitious and equitable instructional practices. Each of the resulting eight practices consists of three elements: a coaching activity, the purpose the activity serves in supporting teachers’ learning, and the knowledge and perspectives implicated in enacting the activity. The practices clarify when, why, and how coaches might engage teachers in different coaching activities. |

| Abstrak | : | Critical thinking is a fundamental skill in academic writing, yet EFL instruction often focuses more on the final product than the cognitive process. This quasi-experimental study examined the effectiveness of the process-product approach in fostering critical thinking in academic report writing among EFL students. One hundred eleven sixth-semester English Education students at Saifuddin Zuhri State Islamic University were involved. Using cluster random sampling, two intact classes were selected: Class C (n = 40) as the experimental group and Class A (n = 40) as the control group. The experimental group received writing instruction based on the process-product approach, while the control group received conventional instruction. Critical thinking and report writing skills were assessed through pre- and post-tests, and the data were analyzed using paired-samples and independent-samples t-tests. The experimental group showed a significant improvement in critical thinking scores (pre-test M = 69.4, SD = 4.6; post-test M = 83.2, SD = 3.8), compared to the control group (pre-test M = 68.9, SD = 4.3; post-test M = 74.5, SD = 4.1), t(78) = 8.21, p < .001. Report writing scores also improved significantly in the experimental group (M = 85.0, SD = 3.7) versus the control group (M = 76.2, SD = 4.0), t(78) = 10.27, p < .001. The most notable gains were inference, evaluation, organization, and argument clarity. These findings support using the process-product approach to enhance critical thinking and writing skills in EFL academic contexts. |

| Abstrak | : | This research entitled "Short Movies as Media in Teaching Cause and Effect Paragraphs Writing to 11th Grade Students" explored the utilization of short movies as a teaching tool for enhancing students' ability to write cause and effect paragraphs. The research aimed at addressing two main research questions. The first research question is to sought for determining the effectiveness of employing short movies as a tool in teaching writing cause and effect paragraph writing. The second research question aimed to gauge students’ responses towards the utilization of short movies as a teaching medium within the classroom setting. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with XI IPS 2 serving as the control group, comprising 34 students, and XI IPS 3 as the experimental group, with 36 students of SMA Negeri 1 Patikraja from the population of 346 students. The research was done from 21st March – 11 May 2023. The research findings obtained from data analysis using two data collection methods, test and questionnaire. The result indicated that the use of short movies was effective, as proven by a significance value of 0.024, less than the threshold of 0.5. Furthermore, students’ responses, evaluated using a likert-scale questionnaire with four options (strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree), revealed that the majority of students (66%) selected "agree," reflecting a favorable reception of the media application in the classroom. this research demonstrates the successful integration of short movies as an effective tool for teaching cause and effect paragraph writing. |

| Abstrak | : | Hensel lifting is a technique for taking solutions modulo p to systems of polynomial equations with integer coefficients, and “lifting” them to solutions mod ????2,????4,????8, etc. One of the original applications of Hensel lifting was in algorithms for the factorization of integer polynomials, where the system of equations has the same number of variables as equations. While Hensel lifting in that scenario is well-covered in the literature, textbooks, courses, and online notes, in this expository note we are interested in the general case, where the number of variables can be more or less than the number of equations. Our exposition is entirely elementary, assuming no background beyond integer polynomials and modular arithmetic. |

| Abstrak | : | It has been more than twenty years since Moshe Newman, based on work by Neil Calkin and Herbert Wilf, introduced an explicit bijection between the rational and natural numbers. Interestingly, this bijection is dynamic in nature. Indeed, Newman’s map has the property that the orbit of zero provides the required bijection. Claudio Bonanno and Stefano Isola, using continued fractions expansions, described the dynamics of its first return time map T. They proved that it is topologically conjugated to the dyadic odometer. In this article, we prove that the correct numerical system needed to analyze this map is the backward continued fractions. Indeed, this approach has the advantage that it provides explicitly the action of T on the expansion. As a by-product, we naturally obtain an explicit formula for Minkowski’s question mark function in terms of backward continued fractions. The whole point of Newman was to provide an explicit bijection, our approach shares the same taste for the explicit. |

| Abstrak | : | Despite the ubiquity of the rings ????? as the finite, cyclic models of integer arithmetic, it is rather less well-known that cyclic models of (positive) arithmetic with exponentiation exist only for cycle length 1, 2, 6, 42, and 1806. We explore finite cyclic models of other arithmetical and combinatorial operations on positive arithmetic: fixed base exponentiation, factorial, and binomial coefficients. In each case we find whether infinitely or finitely many models are possible. The case of fixed base exponentiation is particularly interesting, where for base ????>2 we find that the compatible cycle sizes form a multiplicative monoid of positive integers, with infinitely many irreducible elements, and curiously sparse prime factors. |
