A numerical approach for defect modes localization in an inhomogeneous medium
Pengarang: Yiqi Gu, Xiaoliang Cheng
Abstrak: Some optical design problems arise from the study of photonic bandgap structure, including defect modes localization, that is, computing the optimal dielectric property to highly localize particular eigenfunctions of a Dirichlet model problem. The steepest descent method has been studied for this problem. In this paper, we present a new approach for the defect modes localization. Rather than focusing on the original objective and optimizing the structure along the gradient, a variant of the original problem is put forward with its corresponding method. Although the original problem and the variant presented in this work are not equivalent, our method is shown to solve both of them in numerical experiments. Furthermore, the algorithm in this paper can restart the optimization if the original gradient descent method gets stuck during the iteration.
A Static approach to prioritizing junit test cases
Pengarang: -
Abstrak: Test case prioritization is used in regression testing to schedule the execution order of test cases so as to expose faults earlier in testing. Over the past few years, many test case prioritization techniques have been proposed in the literature. Most of these techniques require data on dynamic execution in the form of code coverage information for test cases. However, the collection of dynamic code coverage information on test cases has several associated drawbacks including cost increases and reduction in prioritization precision. In this paper, we propose an approach to prioritizing test cases in the absence of coverage information that operates on Java programs tested under the JUnit frameworkΓ’β¬βan increasingly popular class of systems. Our approach, JUnit test case Prioritization Techniques operating in the Absence of coverage information (JUPTA), analyzes the static call graphs of JUnit test cases and the program under test to estimate the ability of each test case to achieve code coverage, and then schedules the order of these test cases based on those estimates. To evaluate the effectiveness of JUPTA, we conducted an empirical study on 19 versions of four Java programs ranging from 2K-80K lines of code, and compared several variants of JUPTA with three control techniques, and several other existing dynamic coverage-based test case prioritization techniques, assessing the abilities of the techniques to increase the rate of fault detection of test suites. Our results show that the test suites constructed by JUPTA are more effective than those in random and untreated test orders in terms of fault-detection effectiveness. Although the test suites constructed by dynamic coverage-based techniques retain fault-detection effectiveness advantages, the fault-detection effectiveness of the test suites constructed by JUPTA is close to that of the test suites constructed by those techniques, and the fault-detection effectiveness of the test suites constructed by some of JUPTA\'s variants is better than that of the test suites constructed by several of those techniques.
A Test of The Relationships Among Perceptions of Justice, Job Satisfaction, Affective Commitment and Organizational Citizenship Behavior
Pengarang: Harif Amali Rifai
Abstrak: This study examines factors influencing organizational citizenship behavior in an organization. These factors include procedural justice, distributive justice, job satisfaction and commitment. Although previous studies have investigated commitment as antecedent of OCB, most of them did not specifically explain the type of commitment hypothesizedIn terms of commitment, this study utilizes the specific type of commitment, i.e. affective commitment. The theoretical model proposes both distributive justice and procedural justice as antecedents of job satisfaction and job satisfaction has an effect on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) through affective commitmentSEM analysis of survey data from 383 nurses who are working for private hospitals in Indonesia supports that the theoretical model has met goodness-of-fit criterions. The findings concluded that there are significant relationships between both procedural justice and distributive justice and job satisfaction. Job satisfaction has a significant impact for developing affective commitment. The results also support that affective commitment is a significant predictor of organizational citizenship behavior
Analisis Elemen-Elemen Brand Equity untuk Menemukan Kekuatan dan Kelemahan Produk pada Produk Merek "Dagadu Djokdja"
Pengarang: H. Aqib Suminto
Abstrak: This article is the result of a research on the power of brand eqaity of Dagadu Djogdja T-$hirt, a prestigious brand in Yogtakarta that can be said to have strong brand equity. The power of brand equity is measured through a study toward brand owareness, brand association, perceived quality, and brand loyalty. In this research, the sample is one hundred customers with quota sarnpling as the sampling technique. The data gathered are qualitative and quantitative data, which consists of primary and secondary data obtained through Observation Research, Library Research, and Field Research. From several tests toward brand equity, it is lcnown that the company can be satisfied with customer's owareness in remembering and recognizing Dagadu Djokdja T-Shirt than any other brands.

Application of Klein-4 Group on Domino Card
Pengarang: Saragih, Asido [et al...]
Abstrak: Klein-4 or Klein-V group is a group with four elements including identity. The binary operation on Klein-4 group will produce identitiy if operated to it self and produce another non-identity element if operated to another non identity element. The focus of this paper is to explain the principle of Klein 4 group on Domino card and also f ind all complete possible elements. Domino card is a set of 28 cards which the surface of each card divided in two identic boxes contain combination of dots as patter n. The final part of this research is to find out all possible combination of cards which can be used as elements of a Klein-4 groups.

Broadening access to science with support for the whole student in a residential liberal arts college environment
Pengarang: Bandoro, Bantarto
Abstrak: This article describes two cohort programs that were used to support students from groups underrepresented in STEM fields at Carleton College. These programs were designed to support three aspects of student development: students' drive to succeed in STEM fields; students' sense of belonging in their student cohorts, in the college, in the STEM departments at the college, and in STEM disciplines more broadly; and students' learning in STEM courses (e.g., mentoring, advising, and research experiences).
